As we get older we start (finally) to get to know ourselves
a bit more. If we’re lucky, we gain a
little wisdom, a little confidence, and a little acceptance of who we are in
our own skin; and if we are truly blessed we find ourselves surrounded by a
circle of friends that truly understand and support us. Those are the good things…the best
things.
But it seems like there are always things that we just can’t
quite wrap our heads around. I have a
hard time with a myriad of things at which I work very hard. For example, tell me I look nice, or sound
great and I have learned to say “thank you” instead of come up with 5 reasons
why tonight is not my best night.
I share this with you to say (or as Bill Cosby would say “I
told you that story to tell you this story”) that the hardest thing I have ever
done, and will probably ever do, is to ask for help in any form. I know that it’s not a healthy attitude. I know that trying to do everything alone all
the time is just begging for a breakdown, but…
So, when I step outside of my
comfort zone and say “yes, please, can you help?” and someone actually does I
am beyond humbled and grateful. I am seriously
and beyond words honored that you would find me worthy of your time and support.
So what’s my point here?
I just want to say thank you.
When you come out to a show and spend your time and money to spend time
with me I am honored. When you buy a CD
and another one to share with your friend who just “needs to hear this” I am
humbled. And when you lay down your hard
earned money to help me get another project off the ground I am awed. http://www.gofundme.com/fp7u50 (if you are wondering what I'm talking about here)
So, again, thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
