Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is a truly unique American Holiday (Well, almost. 2 other countries celebrate Thanksgiving that I'm aware, but one is credited to Americans taking the holiday to their home country.)
Our national holiday may stem from the feast held in 1621 by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag to celebrate the first successful harvest of the colony, but as America herself, it has undergone many changes.
When we think of Thanksgiving now, our minds gravitate to turkey, football, and parades, but not so long ago Thanksgiving was lauded as a more sacred time; a day to thank God for the goodness He has shown us through the year, a time to take a breath and enjoy family and the blessings of home and hearth.
No lecture, but a gentle reminder to take a moment to pause and be truly cognizant of the beautiful things in your life.  Friends, family, love, a warm home, a hot meal, that perfect furry companion that thinks you are the entire world.
I am thankful tonight for all that and more...including you, you are very high on the list indeed.
Happy Thanksgiving from our house to yours.  I wish you laughter, love, and adventure that only comes with a room full of family.
