Working women blues

A little insight for those of you who wished you worked for yourselves – here is the truth.  We don’t get sick days, snow days, or personal days.  We don’t have anywhere to pass the buck or anyone to blame when the project on which we've worked for months crashes and burns.  It’s just us.  All. The. Time.  We work constantly - every minute of every day (or so it seems).  When I am doing house work my brain is listing all the “music” business to which I’m not attending.  When I’m rehearsing or writing in the back of my mind is the pile of laundry and dishes in the sink that need attention.  In reality I know that part of this is because I’m a woman.  I need a wife.  How often do you hear men facing these issues?  LOL
There is of course another side to this coin, and where I am today.  There are some days when you just can NOT get motivated to get anything accomplished.  It’s amazing that I’m actually sitting here typing this little gem for you to peruse.  There is no one to check on my progress for today’s workload, no one to complain that I’m not pulling my weight, no voice in the back of my head saying “the boss could walk in at any time”!  The boss is here and she doesn’t care.  She is cold and tired and overworked and overwhelmed by the amount of work that has yet to be done that she has just shut down.  This is reality.  Today is just going to be one of those days that nothing worthwhile gets done.  That being said, there is another load of laundry in the washer as we speak, dishes have been washed, furry babies have been fed and lavished with play time and oh yes, blog is being posted.  Good for me.  That’s at least 4 things I can check off my list.

I think I’ll have a cup of tea and get lost in my newest Tosca Lee book.  Maybe you should do the same.  Why?  So I’ll have enough company that I won’t feel guilty.  Who am I kidding…I’ll feel guilty no matter what.  I’m a woman and it’s just how I’m built.  Eh.
