I’m
watching this British Sky television program called ‘An Idiot Abroad’. It is hilarious. Unbelievably funny in a sick, poke it with a stick
sort of way. I’m a little embarrassed that
I think it is this comical, but I laugh out loud every time I watch an
episode... EVERY time. It’s this kind of
self realization that challenges who I think I am. I am reminded of a quote from ‘When Harry met
Sally’ “Everybody thinks they
have good taste and a sense of humor but they couldn't possibly all have good
taste” – or for that matter a good sense of humor. It begs the
question of course, if we all think we have great taste, a good mind, a
sensible disposition, and of course a good sense of humor, who is to really decide? Which of course leads my mind directly to the
question of what is normal? We spend our
entire lives inadvertently acting as judge and jury of things we find out of
the norm while desperately wondering why we never feel like we ourselves are
quite the normal we believe we should be.
That being said, I’m off to watch another episode of “Poke Karl with a
Stick” - that’s what it really should be called - and revel in my unashamedly not
normal personage. Join me, won’t you. ;)
