I know. I know. I warned you. I haven’t been here in a while, but here I am
now. It’s just the way it’s going to
be. ;)
It’s been an interesting couple of weeks. I’ve had some GREAT shows, some “all by
myself” shows (yes, sometimes it happens even to the best of us), and a LOT of “other”
stuff happening. You know – Life.
Yesterday hubby and I found ourselves side tracked by a serious traffic accident and I ended up missing a private gig. I was mortified since this is only the 2nd show in 10 years that I've missed, and one of those I was in the hospital. We sat in traffic for about an hour before we even moved an inch. It turned out that our lane was shut down so they could airlift people off the highway. I'm pretty sure that someone lost their life yesterday, and there I was stressed out about a show. Puts things in perspective, doesn't it? A reminder from God of how precious every moment of life truly is makes the next bit of news all the sweeter...
The "sweeter" that took precedence over much of my time recently was my mother getting remarried. If you’ve
heard SOMETIMES on the Bliss CD you’ll get a pretty good overview of this
amazing love affair. Two friends who
have known and loved one another for years (as friends) begin meeting after
their respective spouses pass … and voila, a sneak attack from that darn little
cupid. From dating to marriage in a
matter of months…bravo little guy!
It’s a gift to find young love. It’s young love that grows up with you, raises
a family with you, starts a life; but there is something beyond beautiful about
mature love and being “found” by someone who knows all your baggage and
struggles and loves you not in spite of it, but because of it. As a daughter it is especially thrilling to
watch your mother texting, talking, and laughing like a 16 year old girl
discovering love for the first time. So,
here’s to Sandy & Harry who took the leap, and each other, on the 4th
of July so that they will have fireworks (one way or the other) forever more on
their anniversary…may you be blessed beyond measure and granted every second of
peace and happiness. You both deserve
nothing less.
