What a GREAT weekend! Seriously. I was sick all weekend .. I've been fighting something of a chest cold all week, but knowing that I had gigs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I have been babying myself a bit - trying to grab a little extra sleep, eat right, down mighty amounts of vitamin C, and keep my mouth shut. No surprise, the last one was the hardest. ;)
Friday night comes, and though I feel like I'm working with half of my voice, Caleb and I make it through a really wonderful night at The Comus Inn. It's always a blessing when I have a partner to lean on, plus it's just SO much fun! Saturday night and the guys at Gourmet Goat (so much family now) are understanding and let me cut an hour off of my 3 hour set so I feel like I'm ready for my Mother's Day gig at Boxwood Winery Tasting Room. Sunday.. man, now I'm feeling it, but I'm ready to give it all I have...and I do. KILLER afternoon ... full tables, amazing crowd (both on the patio and on the street), and crystal blue skies with a gentle breeze blowing in from the National Harbor. OH yeah! But by now I'm feeling it. Really feeling it. But God is good and we are in the groove. Last song - At Last - I make it to the 2nd to last line and there it goes.. voice gone. GONE. I take a breathe, swallow hard and manage one last note to take it home. I've never been so glad to get to the end of a set in my life! But it was worth every ounce of energy, prayer, sweat, and worry.
So, I've been home today, NOT talking. Happy hubby. I'm contemplating one more day of the same... happier hubby.
