life or death

Pray without ceasing.. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

For those of us blessed enough to have been raised on the word of God (I’m talking about the Bible here- the word of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) we know this verse.  It is simply a commandment to talk to the Big Man all the time (I personally call him Papa); let him know what’s happening with you, how you’re feeling, what you need, and more importantly, what you are thankful for in your life.
As many of you know I’ve been out a couple of days.  I’ve been running back and forth spending time with hubby at the hospital during his stay and home again keeping our little furry babies fed and loved  (not to mention the miscellaneous chores that refuse to wait just because you have too much to do).   In the midst of this I am praying about a friend who’s grandmother has ‘graduated’ to hospice and my very dear ‘sister’ who did a quick run to South Carolina on the news that her mothier also made an unexpected move to hospice.  AND tonight, as I log online to share the news that I finally brought hubby home, I see news of yet another soul I admire in the hospital as well.
I am a firm believer in prayer and the words that take flight from our lips.  I DO believe that we have been given the amazing gift to speak both life and death into the world through the power of Jesus Christ.  I also know that I am guilty far too often of forgetting that I possess this power and therefore fail to utilize it to its full potential.
I guess I say all this to say that we turn to God in difficult times, that is to be expected, and we pray for others as we see a need arise, also, expected, but should we not seriously focus on “praying without ceasing”…not just for ourselves, but to remember each of your friends and loved ones as they come to you throughout the day?  A simple word of blessing, healing, prosperity, joy or peace over their lives is just as mighty in the eyes of God as a throw down, elegant speech proclaimed in the midst of the masses.
Let’s keep it simple, shall we?   I’ll be speaking with Papa about you tonight and every time He brings you to mind.  If you’ll do the same we’ll truly be blessed beyond measure.

Love you family!
